Live Publish Settings

Live publishing streams the current event and practice data to a remote server so anyone, anywhere can follow the timing — not just people on the track's local network. It's the live half of Online Results & Live Timing: it works by publishing to an MQTT broker; viewers' browsers subscribe to that broker and see laps as they happen, on the same site that later hosts your archived results.

Local web vs. live publish

These are two different things. Web Interface serves timing on the local network from the timing PC. Live Publish pushes the same data out to the internet via a broker. You can run either, both, or neither.

Sensible Laps publishes everything under a base topic you specify, which keeps your event separate from every other club using the same broker.

Choosing a broker

• Sensible Laps centralised live site — the hosted option, viewable at results.sensiblelaps.com. It runs on flespi.io; contact support for your connection details.
• Your own broker — host your own results website and point Sensible Laps at your own MQTT broker instead.

Status icon

When publishing is active, a publishing icon appears in the main Sensible Laps header:

If there's a communication fault, the icon changes colour — a quick glance tells you whether the outside world is still seeing your timing.
